Birthday party in the hospital

• HOW IT STARTED •

The Confetti Foundation began with one tiny but mighty baby — and a big idea.

When entrepreneur Stephanie Frazier Grimm’s godson, affectionately called Baby C, was born eight weeks premature, his first home was the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Each day, Stephanie’s close friend made long drives to visit him, and during those drives, the two friends would talk about everything — family, work, old college memories — anything that offered a few moments of relief from worry.

One day, Stephanie learned about another baby in the NICU who was celebrating his very first birthday — a birthday spent entirely within hospital walls. That single moment sparked a question that changed everything:

What happens when a child has to spend their birthday in the hospital?

Stephanie discovered that while hospitals gave children a small gift, there was no party — no decorations, no balloons, no celebration of their special day. Having spent her own 13th birthday in a hospital, and worried that Baby C might have to do the same, Stephanie decided to change that story.

In January 2014, The Confetti Foundation became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization — dedicated to bringing themed birthday party kits to children who must spend their birthdays in hospitals, pediatric oncology clinics, and hospice facilities.

Since then, thousands of children have experienced the joy of being celebrated — a few moments of normalcy, laughter, and love during some of their hardest days.

Every party started with one question and one act of love.
Now, your support helps that love reach hospital rooms across the country.
